Darwin photographer David Hancock is one of northern Australia's most experienced editorial and corporate photographers. He works regularly for Australian Geographic and Outback magazines as a photographer and writer.
In 2005 David Hancock was named Australian Geographic Photographer of the Year and in 2008 was the Australian nominee for the Prix Pictec, one of the world's leading photographic prizes.
David Hancock corporate photography has closely documented the growth of the mining, energy, defence, tourism, transport and pastoral sectors of the Top End for 25 years. As a Darwin photographer, David Hancock has also photographed and written about social and economic change in the north.
David is author of four books about the Northern Territory: TOP END, published by Australian Geographic, A Vision Fulfilled, a book about construction of the Alice Springs to Darwin railway, Walkabout Chefs, a collaboration with master chef Steve Sunk that provides an insight to Aboriginal culture through food, and, TOP END life in Australia's Top End, a fascinating book that takes readers to some of the most remote areas of Australia, populated by incredibly interesting people.
David Hancock has worked as a photographer for most Australian newspapers and magazines; corporate clients include Rio Tinto, Energy Resources Australia, Woodside, ADrail, Australian Railway Corporation, Hochtief, Conoco Philips, Great Southern, Crowne Plaza, NAILSMA and a variety of government and indigenous organisations.
David Hancock travels to mine sites, offshore oil rigs, pastoral properties, Aboriginal communities and national parks to photograph and write about projects and the people who are involved with them. David has written corporate documents for private companies and government, including large sponsorship packages for organisations such as NT Major Events.
Based in Darwin, David Hancock has the ability to write and take photographs of national and international standard. He works closely with designers in Darwin and overseas to produce company profiles, business presentations, brochures, web design and books. He supplies editorial photography to clients in Europe and the United States through Anzenberger, a photo agency based in Vienna.
